MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Jun 19 Observer(s): Weil Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + Echelle CCD Worked for 5 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 11:30 until 2:30. Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Smoke, Winds Moderate, Only on Horizon Mid: Smoke, Winds Moderate, Entire Sky Covered End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Smoke, Winds Moderate, Only on Horizon Observing Summary: The smoke from the fire seemed to come over the mountain tonight between about 11pm and 2:30am. With the moon up, it became almost impossible to see the clouds. There also appeared to be some dust in the air, so the mirrors on the telescope were closed between 11:30 and 2:30 to prevent the damage to the mirrors from dust. At about 2:30 the clouds had dissipated and the dust had seemed to decrease as well. Telescope pointing was off by approximately 30 arc seconds in both RA and Dec. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Jun 20 [4:54:51]
