MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2016 Nov 19 Observer(s): Jessica Klusmeyer Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOSB4k Worked for 8 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.9 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Cloudy for start of the night, not enough clearing to hold a guide star. Few targets in queue for start of night. Did not open until 1130. (doubtful if weather forecast improves but if so will need more queue targets for final night) Eventually cleared up and opened, no problems with the mirror covers. Pressure gauge in dome indicated compressor did not fail but still used tanks as instructed. Dome got lost again but was able to reset encoders although it did take climbing up and resetting encoder box in dome. No real impact on observing since Eric had told me how to fix this problem earlier. Had the same issue as previous runs with the guider not going to the right location with a rotation angle(using the -90-rot angle). It only appears to be a problem at larger angles >60. Not a problem but does take longer to get target in slit. Not really a problem but Observer error when trying to set up osqlsp, deleted calspectrum file name which is not default setting and am now realizing should have been something I wrote down. Can still look at data but now in pixels instead of wavelength. Clouds returned at end of night, unable to finish one targets exposures. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Nov 20 [7:07:44]
