MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Apr 01 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from start until 8PM. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate, variable seeing Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate, variable seeing End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate, variable seeing Observing Summary: A snow squall came through just before dinner, complete with blowing fog. Up top it cleared off after dinner, but fog blew over the southwest ridge from the east for a while after this; it all blew away and the RH dropped to a nice safe level by the end of twilight, when I opened. After that it was smooth sailing except for (1) some poor seeing and (2) loss of the internet for about 3 hours in the middle of the night. I called the 4m and they verified that it was a mountain-wide outage, so our nice new fiber is apparently fine. Dome was off by about a degree at the end of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Apr 2 [6:07:47]
