MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Apr 03 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Cirrus in afternoon had cleared nicely by sunset. Very windy up at the summit -- I had to stop and get off my bike a couple times on the way back down from dinner when especially violent gusts hit -- and Kitt Peak stayed closed most of the night. The winds were, rather strangely, not nearly so strong at MDM, and were well below the limit. They diminished considerably through the night. Seeing was for the most part pretty good, though it was excrable looking into the wind at high airmass (as my program required a few times). No technical problems; dome was spot-on at the end of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Apr 4 [6:09:58]
