MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Apr 20 Observer(s): Kay/Moran Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: B4K direct Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: A good night with steady skies. We spent a fair amount of time trying to focus the telescope, and while we had no trouble getting pretty decent focus, we were not able to get the tight radial profiles that we achieved two years ago with the same instrument. Guiding went well all night, so that wasn't it. We also had an episode of pilot error trying to perform an offset with the xtcs gui. The tcs ended up confused about the telescope's position and pointing was lost, but we fixed both. Took a little time out of our night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Apr 21 [4:58:34]
