MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Feb 07 Observer(s): Eric Galayda Institution(s): MDM Observatory Instrument: Andor (Direct) Worked for 4 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 2030 until 2230. Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Recently had a failed load cell for one of the mirror support hard points. Replaced but afterwards it became evident that collimation needed attention. So spent the night tweaking collimation. It appears to be markedly improved. Also used the time to check telescope operations in light of some of the recent reports. I had absolutely no issue with telescope pointing/setting--found stars immediately in the ~120 arc second field. Tracking also seemed to be extremely stable. Lastly there were no issues with dome operation. Had to close by 2230 LT as I had already been pushing the humidity limit a bit by then. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Feb 8 [12:21:53]
