MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Feb 22 Observer(s): Jessica Klusmeyer Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOSB4k Worked for 7.5 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 1:30 until 430. Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, RH~75-80 End: Clear, Winds Light & Variable, RH> 90 Observing Summary: Clouds from sunset to around midnight. Was able to observe a few bright targets in the patches Cleared up for two hours then humidity went above limits Closed around 0130 local Humidity stayed out of limits until ~0430, worried about condensation, stayed closed for remaining 2 hours Not really a problem but wondering if anyone has suggestions for a problem I keep having at larger PA. When rotator >60ish I have issues with guider going to correct guide star. I have verified using angle=-90-rot angle but still no luck. Also normally try moving to origin and back to guide star target or other bright stars. With dense star fields it's not much of an issue as I can jump around to different guide stars But want to know a better, less time consuming way, or something to do when there are a limited number of guide star options ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Feb 23 [5:06:38]
