MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Feb 26 Observer(s): Carroll, DiPompeo, Brumback Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 4 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 11pm until 5am. Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The night started fine, but we got hung up on the new guider procedure. We followed along with the updated instructions but entering a new X coordinate did not seem to move the telescope at all. The instructions were somewhat unclear to us, especially regarding >30 pixel changes. We eventually switched back to the MIS procedure. Not sure, but with MIS you need to change the dy to move the object to the slit, so should we really be changing the X? We tried both ways but it didn't seem to work either way. Humidity then climbed into the red and we were forced to shut down. We waited a while to try opening again but by the time the humidity dropped to acceptable limits we realized there was ice and condensation outside. We advised the 1.3m not to open as well. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Feb 27 [3:49:05]
