MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Jan 27 Observer(s): Jessica Klusmeyer Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOSB4k Worked for 14 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate, var seeing Mid: Seeing 3+ arcsec, Clear, Winds High, var seeing End: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate, var seeing Observing Summary: Tonight wasn't so bad Clear sky, winds were moderate/high all night but opened with no problems. Seeing was variable entire night. Focus took less time than yesterday but believe that to be because no TCS issues tonight stars still have slight coma-like appearance Mirror covers opened without a problem also without a delay Dome encoders were an issue again. During observation dome would get confused and think it was suddenly in a different spot and try to correct. These were large errors, Dome Azimuth 37 to 270. Went out and read dome position and reset encoder, dome moved to correct position but this happened all night however much preferred to manually moving the dome in the cold. Dome went to correct home position at end of observations. Halfway through the night winds picked up. During an exposures guide star was bouncing around in tracking box, believe winds were moving scope. Changed the aggressiveness in guider setting which seemed to help a little. No technical problems, much better night than before! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Jan 28 [7:35:44]
