MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Jul 19 Observer(s): Hodges-Kluck, Kang, Cho Institution(s): Michigan Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 7 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Rain from 7pm until 9pm. Beg: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Calm, Rain Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The weather was mostly good tonight, after some thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The humidity was high, but did not cross the limit until around 4 am. Due to the strong afternoon storms, we performed a lightning shutdown. Afterwards, hiltner booted in 45 minutes, down from 90 last night, and we tried to get as much water off the telescope as possible by slewing to the north and then east. During the clear period we observed about 12 targets and some standard fields, but the rising humidity prevented twilight flats or our plan for a standard spectrum, which we hope to get tonight. The only issue was that we had run out of dry nitrogen for purging earlier in the day, and after the storms there was once again a condensation ring that persisted all night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Jul 20 [5:10:40]
