MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Jun 18 Observer(s): Ryan Chornock Institution(s): Ohio University Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Smoke, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Much worse seeing tonight than the previous week. We even received a call from the 4m telescope operator in the middle of the night wanting to confirm that we were also experiencing 2 arcsec seeing. Conditions improved in the last few hours of the night. In the late afternoon, some smoky haze was apparent to the north/northwest. This resulted in a beautiful sunset, but maybe not the best atmospheric transparency in that direction. Otherwise, it was another basically clear night. The telescope pointing deteriorated over the course of the run to the point that we lost time tonight when I had to reset the RA/Dec. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Jun 19 [5:07:55]
