MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Mar 05 Observer(s): Paust Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS/4K Worked for 3 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Very bad weather from 6 until 3. Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Above Limit Mid: Patchy Clouds, Winds Above Limit End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The weather that's helping out the Californians with their drought problem definitely isn't helping MDM. We had strong winds (the 4m claimed sustained winds of about 50 mph) with gusts up to the low 40s down here. That wind continually pushed light and medium cirrus across the sky. Then, around midnight, the humidity spiked. Finally though, the winds died down and the humidity fell to the 70s at around 3 am. Telescope operated exactly as expected. Seeing was kind of crappy though, in the 1.6 or 1.7 range. The seeing monitor on the 4m reported the same numbers. But, we got some usable data and a nice set of sky flats in the morning. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Mar 6 [6:59:52]
