MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Mar 31 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: ModSpec + echelle Worked for 8 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 9PM until 11PM. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Very dusty mid-day - could barely see the Sierritas -- but by sunset one could see colors on Mt Hopkins, so the dust had pretty much cleared. Mostly clear, but with a 2-hour interval of heavy high cloud during the first half, and just a little intermittent cirrus in the morning. Seeing was variable, and good by the end. Much cooler than the last few nights. Dome behaved itself. Very productive. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Apr 1 [6:19:20]
