MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Oct 09 Observer(s): Thorstensen & Rupert Institution(s): Dartmouth & MDM Instrument: Modspec + Echelle + new TCS! Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: A momentous occasion -- the first night of scientific observations with the new DFM TCS! It went very well, with only a few glitches due to remaining bugs. Thanks to Rick Pogge's translation program, the transition to the new system was pretty seamless, though observers will need to get used to the new system. Weather was excellent; seeing was mediocre at first but improved during the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Oct 10 [6:23:57]
