MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Oct 14 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Beautiful night with much better seeing than last night, but a little cirrus. Everything worked well, though I've been noticing occasional tracking errors, one of which was severe enough to knock the guide star out of the box. These are fairly rare, and the telescope is basically behaving itself very well. Rob Fesen is on next, and will be taking long-exposure images -- this should give a much clearer idea of just how severe this is in operational terms. Left a bit early to fly home. There are glitches (literal), but overall I am very happy with this upgrade. The telescope is, quite simply, no longer living on borrowed time. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Oct 15 [3:57:33]
