MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Oct 25 Observer(s): Rupert Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The night was delayed a bit by some technical issues. osctrtask was giving me fits. After picking John's brain it was determined that the TCS link was lost somehow. After restarting all of the data acquisition programs, that issue was solved. Around one o' clock the telescope was taken near its limits. I had to use the hand paddle to take it out of that near-limit. I restarted the TCS. Later in the midst of a science exposure I realized that the dome was not where it thought it was. It was mostly occulting the telescope. Gotta remember that the dome encoders are relative. So I re-established its position and that issue was solved. The rest of the night was fine. Weather was great! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Oct 26 [6:57:54]
