MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Oct 26 Observer(s): Rupert Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Once again, the night started slowly. Osctrtask got hung up at a certain point in its routine. It would display the acqimage in ds9 and mark the target, but then it would stall. After some time it was determined that if I let it go, after 5-7 minutes it would overcome its hangup and continue as normal. After that things were fine for a time. Then at around 4:30 AM, a similar hangup occurred. However, this time instead of working itself out, it gave the error message MemoryError. This occurred even after rebooting ws1, and was not resolved by the night's end. Finally, I noticed that when I set the instrument rotator to 0.0 according to the TCS, when I look at the instrument itself, it is still counterclockwise of the zero mark (looking up at it), or positive, by a decent margin. That needs to be addressed. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Oct 27 [6:40:12]
