MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Oct 29 Observer(s): Rupert Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The telescope went for its limits again, twice. The first time it was in the northwest, slewing to zenithish and it tried to go to its western limit instead. The second it was on the meridian in the southern sky and tried to go east. Again, I used the hand paddle to get it near zenith, and it seemed to solve this issue, but it takes a few minutes to go through the motions. At the end of the night, the instrument rotator was off by -6.7. After a few nights of tracking its behaviour, it seems that the rotator moves more than it thinks it does, and that it gets progressively worse throughout the night. Otherwise a good night! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Oct 30 [6:41:00]
