MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Sep 21 Observer(s): Weil Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Ended up having a good night observing despite issues with the guider. The guider got stuck early in the night and would not move at all along the y-axis. It was also very far off position wise in the x-axis. Eric attempted to fix the guider remotely but was unsuccessful. I lost about an hour and half of observing time trying to fix the guider with Eric. Using some guess and check work I was able to find guide stars that were along wherever the guider was stuck and was able to successfully guide for the remainder of the night. Guiding was not as good as previous nights but given the circumstances I was still able to observe. Seeing was not as good as the past two nights. Shortly after midnight clouds formed on the horizon. By dawn the clouds were spread out in the East. Moderate wind for most of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Sep 22 [6:28:58]
