MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Apr 20 Observer(s): R. Mark Wagner Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: My first night back at MDM after a year and a half. For the most part a great night. Several issues. First, the big door is very sluggish. It takes alot of effort to open and close it compared to what I remember. You need gloves so the chain does not chew up your hands. Second, the TCS crashed around 3 am. The symptom was that targets were not appearing when sent to Next Object. After restarting JSkyCalc and Bridge first to no avail the problem had to be a hung TCS. I restarted it using the instructions and it came up fine. Finally, the guider would not guide afterwards. By this time it as the end of the night so I will reset the guider before observing tomorrow night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Apr 21 [5:16:24]
