MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Aug 10 Observer(s): Rupert Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 7 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from start until 10. Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Then night started with clouds and lightning. Went through the lightning shutdown procedure for both telescopes. Was able to get on sky sometime after 10. There were some clouds throughout the night, but overall didn't lose too much time. At one point in the night the dome seemed to struggle to find the correct azimuth. I was moving to a different target and the dome stopped a few times until it finally found the correct position on its own. Not sure what that is about. Also for future reference, one should not have the TCS adjust the telescope focus with temperature while trying to run the focus4k routine. It will go to the temperature- based focus as opposed to the next step in the propsero script. That is what it seemed like, anyway. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Aug 11 [5:59:27]
