MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Dec 05 Observer(s): Paust et al. Institution(s): Whitman Instrument: OSMOS B4K Worked for 4 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Overcast, Winds Moderate End: Overcast, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Meh. After lucking out last night, we had high hopes that we'd get another good load of data. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. The sky went crystal clear right at sunset and we were able to get good flats. Winds were moderately high though and seeing we terrible, in the 1.5-2 range. Dark bands of cirrus blew over. And then, at about 10:30, it all went black with a solid layer of clouds and we shut down. The humidity had also been creeping up over the night, if the clouds hadn't stopped us it would have only been another hour or two until we had to shut for humidity. By about 1 am, we were completely engulfed in cloud. Which really made it remarkably dark. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Dec 6 [3:37:23]
