MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Feb 24 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + Echelle Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1-1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Really nice night. Some minor glitches. The telescope doesn't always complete slews on the first attempt. Also, I rotated to zero using the red/blue tape fiducial -- at delta = +75 on the meridian -- and found that the rotator was reading -5 degrees, so the instrument rotator appears to be having an issue. I wonder if it might be position dependent. Is there a more precise zeropoint fiducial than the tape? ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Feb 25 [6:57:54]
