MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Jul 10 Observer(s): Rupert Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 2 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 1:30 until end. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Expected clouds to completely shutdown the night again. But the heavens opened up around 11:30, and so did I! However, I quickly ran into an issue with the instrument rotator, namely that it wouldn't rotate. I power-cycled the rotator electronics box and that did the trick. I also ended up having to purge the instrument due to condensation on the detector window. I had done that earlier in the day, so I was hoping I wouldn't have to again. But alas. At around 1AM the humidity rose above 85%, so I closed up at that point for what would be the rest of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Jul 11 [2:55:40]
