MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Jun 06 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Good night, seeing mostly OK and almost (but not quite) clear - some bits of cirrus around certainly. Everything worked well. Some grist for the manual -- I'm reasonably sure that if you don't disengage the autoguider before slewing, the slew will stall and fail (though the dome keeps going). The cure is obviously to disengage the autoguider before slewing; to back out of a failed slew, hit the stop icon (not sure this is needed but it doesn't hurt), send the coordinates again so the HA field in Next Object fills in, and Start Slew again. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Jun 7 [5:16:31]
