MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Jun 14 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Templeton Worked for 4 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 12am until ?. Beg: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Overcast, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: As predicted, it was possible to observe until just before midnight, when clouds quickly rolled in and made themselves at home. The solution to the problem of the dome not homing at the end of the night is simply to switch the order of the closing procedure in the manual. Where it describes how to send the telescope to zenith and the dome to the home position, do the dome home instruction first, then the telescope to zenith. This will result in the dome going to the home position as the telescope is going to zenith. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Jun 15 [1:10:38]
