MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Oct 04 Observer(s): Rupert Institution(s): MDM Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 10 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 7:45 until 11. Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Was able to open and start the night (yay!), but within an hour the humidity rose quickly above the limit (booo). Closed up until 11, when the humidity fell to an observable level. Paid closer attention to the weather widget tonight. I monitored it on mdm24ws1 and Katie Weil monitored it on mdm24ws2. Here's what we noticed about the MDM humidity: 1) There were occasions where the widget displayed different humidity values at the different workstations 2) During the quick rise in humidity, the widget remained at 56%, where it was before the rapid rise, for a few minutes at least before finally catching up 3) After the widget finally seemed to catch up with the conditions, on one occasion the widget at workstation 1 briefly dropped from 90% straight to 70%, then back again Certainly worth an investigation given the widget is an important source of information for remote observers. Other than that it was a great night! Better late than never. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Oct 5 [7:41:30]
