MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Sep 05 Observer(s): R. Mark Wagner Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 6:45P until 8:00P. Beg: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Started late because of threatening clouds in the area. Opened around 8 pm when conditions improved and KPNO gave the go ahead. The rest of the night was very good. Seeing was around 1.5-1.7 arcsec the entire night. Had some startup issues but not failures. Mostly configuration control. TCSLink was down at the start. Eric called for assistance at the 1.3 m right at the same time and walked me through the fix. Next rotator angle was wrong in the guider. Easy fix. Then it was not obvious that any guiding corrections were being sent to the TCS. Eric logged in and fixed that problem in the guiding settings and ASCOM Direct enable option. Finally, the stretch of all the guiding boxes was white. Found that fix in the guider instructions. All ok now. After these initial issues the night went very smoothly. Very productive. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Sep 6 [5:46:14]
