MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Sep 25 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle ccd Worked for 10 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Mostly quite a good night, albeit a very bright one. Mostly clear, though with rafts of brightly-lit altocumulus coming through from time to time. Seeing was much better than last night. I figured out why the telescope was stalling in mid-slew, or at least a correlation. I often start slews before turning off the guider, because it used to not make any difference. If you do that with the new TCS, the slew immediately hangs. Closed a tad early in twilight because of a cloud bank that materialized just before. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Sep 26 [5:34:00]
