MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Sep 29 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Ran into a focus issue early in the night and ended up with a fixed-focus telescope for the night, which had little effect since the focus was about the same as last night. The night started out with high cumulus coming through, but those went away and it was nicely clear until about 2 AM, when fast- moving high clouds from Hurricane Rosa started drifting over. These went away fairly quickly but brightly-lit high cumulus returned, very patchy, for the remainder. Finally closed down just after the start of twilight. Seeing was good, despite the focus issue. Mindful of the forecast for tomorrow I managed to finish off most of what I'd started in this run. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Sep 30 [5:41:20]
