MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 Dec 15 Observer(s): Thorstensen&students Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 10 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 10 PM until midn.. Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.5-3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Mostly clear, but with a few cirrusy intervals toward morning. Markedly colder, with temperature dropping through the night. Humidity spiked causing a close at 10 PM, but subsided by around midnight so we opened again. Seeing was largely rather poor. Focus also appeared to go soft toward the end. MIS required power cycles twice after the guide probe froze. The telescope jumped in RA several times; Katie Weil tightened the appropriate bolt, which may have helped. Finally, the dome shutter made quite a racket near the top of its travel, both on opening and on closing. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 Dec 16 [7:04:10]
