MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 Jul 24 Observer(s): Clarkson, Fiolka, Boyd Institution(s): UM-Dearborn Instrument: ANDOR Worked for 1 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 21:00 until 2:30. Beg: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Rain and overcast conditions for the first half of the night; cleared up sufficiently to allow us to open at 2:30am. Performed a focus run, then moved to target. Focused guider and set autoguiding. We obtained 2x30min on target before morning twilight. Took twilight flats. Image quality and seeing were good, although we did not bother opening the drop shutter or garage door. The only technical problem encountered was that the telescope would not slew directly to the nearest bright star from Zenith. We instead slewed (from zenith) directly to target, then to the nearest bright star from the target. At end of night, we set the mirror set-temperature to 19C (from 20C, which was slightly warmer than ambient at the end of the night). ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 Jul 25 [5:54:34]
