MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 Jul 28 Observer(s): Clarkson, Fiolka, Boyd Institution(s): UM-Dearborn Instrument: ANDOR Worked for 6 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing .7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing .7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Clear skies for most of the night, we opened around 9:45 and observed until a.m. twilight at 4:45. Guiding was lost for about a minute, about half a dozen times, despite no particularly obvious clouds. Possible problem: at the end of the night we commanded the guide probe to x=0 and y=0 using the xmis2 interface. After the commanded move, the green highlighted coords in xmis2 now show x=0 and y=4273, so we have doubts about whether the probe really returned to y=0. We can move the probe to y=4275, but not back down to smaller y values. (If the probe indeed is not moving at all in the negative y-direction, we should still be able to guide on our science target simply by commanding the probe back to the x-position appropriate for our science target. So we're not too worried just at this time.) ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 Jul 29 [6:05:55]
