MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 Jun 04 Observer(s): Wagner and Ierace Institution(s): OSU Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 8.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Very productive night again. Just two problems. At the start of the night the telescope image quality was awful. Checked the mirror bag support computer and found it had crashed. Texted Eric. Restarted the mirror support software. Thereafter the image quality was fine. Second, the TCS crashed again tonight with no obvious cause. Totally unresponsive but still tracking on sky. It seemed to have crashed during a slew. The dome and telescope were misaligned when it failed. Same scenario as the crash last night. Just had to restart the TCS and reinit the guider software. Lost 30 min here. Guiding performance was much better tonight than last night. Eric's work during the day on the friction drive may have helped. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 Jun 5 [4:23:46]
