MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 Jun 22 Observer(s): Rupert, Jayasinghe Institution(s): MDM, OSU Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 6 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Things were going swell for a while aside from the already- known rotator issue. At around 1:15 we slewed the telescope to near zenith to rotate the instrument. Once there, one of the screws of the RA drive preload snapped in half and flew out of its hole along with the washers. We recovered the two smaller washers, but have yet to find the larger, conical one. Decided to close up rather than risk further damage. Couldn't hear anything in the small movement to the telescope stow position... ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 Jun 23 [1:40:37]
