MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 May 13 Observer(s): Oey Institution(s): Michigan Instrument: CCDS Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The grating tilt was at a different position from where we'd left it. In trying to reset it, found that the grating tilt encoder seems to be off by about 300A. We set it to 4600A but it seems centered closer to 5000A or so. Took quite some time to figure out. There was a strange little two-note beep that started going off randomly for a couple hours or so from maybe 2-4am. Very faint. We spent quite some time trying to figure out the source. It wasn't from the dome or computer room. It seemed to be loudest in the control room, but it wasn't from any of the speakers. very mysterious. Eventually it stopped on maybe the last object. The pointing was not as good as the last few days. The star was sometimes outside the slit viewing cam, though not too far. Other than that, we had a great night!!! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 May 14 [4:30:09]
