MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 Sep 06 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS/B Worked for 4 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Clouds around all night, but thin and sparse enough for first half to get quite a bit done. Not long after midnight more opaque clouds arrived that made further observation impossible. Waited them out, but threw in the proverbial towel a bit after the beginning of twilight. No technical problems. At dinner, a postdoc and student from UMass Lowell, Rigel Cappallo and Ankur Roy respectively asked if they could come down to visit for a while since they had been completely shut out on WIYN by a problem with the main power cable to the telescope, and it was Ankur's first observing trip -- he hadn't seen any telescopes in operation! I was happy to oblige, and they got to see things actually go. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 Sep 7 [5:08:39]
