MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2020 Feb 26 Observer(s): Wei Sun Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 16 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The major issue is the bad imaging quality all across the night due to unknown reason. Telescope guiding is poor with large error fluctuation (Err~5), and the image quality is bad. Telescope focus has been tested within the range of 4900 to 5700, but the star image looks no difference in the range of 5100 to 5600. However, the 1.3m observer also suffered from the bad seeing condition; therefore this issue is most likely due to the environmental reasons. Other issues: liquid nitrogen spilled out in less than 1 min when refilling at Feb.26 afternoon, and the detector temperature rised to -110 C at around 04:00am. By then the liquid nitrogen was refilled, but also spilled out in less than 1 min. Besides that, non-synchronous dome rotation and guiding error drifting (X Error) were encountered once. Both were solved by resetting the telescope (and the dome) to the Zenith/home position. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2020 Feb 27 [7:43:18]
