MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2020 Feb 27 Observer(s): Wei Sun Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 16 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The major problem I have encountered during the night is the Prospero system crash at around 21:30. It happened during the movie mode that I was intend to check the telescope focusing. The capturing of figures stopped when I was changing the readout mode (rroi2k to rroi1k) during movie mode. To solve this problem, I reboot Prospero at first, which was still stuck at the movie mode. Then I rebooted the IC PC, and tried Eric's suggestion of commanding seqinit on raritan. The seqinit failed because of UART, and in the rebooted Prospero Status window, the flags of IC shows -SEQ . Then I followed the reset procedure described in http://mdm.kpno.noao.edu/double-files.html to reboot both the IC PC and Caliban. The Caliban made a lot of noise in next 20 mins after rebooting. The prospero worked by then. Besides that, the cloudy weather limits our astronomical observation of the whole night. Only two or three several tens of minutes windows happened during the whole night. The program adjusting the guider focus seems does not work. The guider star image seems no change when I was holding the in or out button for at least 30 seconds. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2020 Feb 28 [8:20:08] NOTE: This report replaces the previous 2.4m telescope observing report for 2020 Feb 27
