MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2021 Oct 11 Observer(s): Aylin Garcia Soto, Keighley Rockcliffe Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 4 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 18:45 until 22:25. Beg: Clear, Winds High, avg 22, gust 25-40 Mid: Clear, Winds Moderate End: Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: The first thing that went wrong was that the MIS GUI froze, but with Prof John Thorstensen (Prof John T.), Dr. Katie Weil and Elisabeth Newton (Prof. Newton; Dartmouth)s' help, we were able to reset the MIS controller and GUI. So the guide probe would move where we wanted it to. However, while this was happening the power to the room was flicking on and off, but at that point the connections to the telescopes (1.3 and 2.4) were fine. The generator also turned on (PS: the power to the landline/phone was cutting off). However, around 21:45, all 6 OSMOS-related monitors (the 4K one, the two workstation ones, and the DFM + guide star ones + the weather monitor) the started to flicker on and off every few seconds. Although the connection to the 2.4m was not cut, but we couldn't control the telescope given frequency of the flickering. We spoke to Prof John T. over the phone and with his help, we closed the 2.4m. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2021 Oct 11 [22:36:49]
