MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2021 Oct 14 Observer(s): Aylin Garcia Soto, Keighley Rockcliffe Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm, poorish seeing Observing Summary: There weren't too big problems, aside from some simple mistakes I made while observing. Aside from that, around 7:30pm/1930 I (Aylin) accidentally forgot to turn off tracking before slewing the telescope. But then I turn it off as soon as the guider lost the star and MaximDL beeped. However, this seemed to have halted the telescope from moving and I couldn't get it to move. Over the phone with Prof. Thorstensen, I tried to get the telescope to move back to zenith and trying to turn off tracking first. But that didn't work, so I called Eric G. and he was able to fix it. It seemed that the process of sending the telescope back to zenith was the right move, the DFM control was just being a bit buggy and I had to close some windows to get it to understand. I was able to observe all night, given tired human errors. Lastly, around 3:23am/0323 I had a hard time finding my source (too dim) because the seeing became bad. Also the surrounding stars and the guide star was looked very unfocused. I spent some time focusing, to confirm it wasn't that. It wasn't, it seemed to be the seeing due to weather. It got slightly better after, I just moved to a brighter target. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2021 Oct 15 [6:13:03]
