MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2023 Sep 12 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 5 hours (off and on through the night) Bad weather most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing < 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Thunderstorms nearby early, then clearing nicely with good seeing, and occasional cloudy intervals. It got cloudier in the second half and felt humid; around 2 AM the middle of the 4K dewar fogged up. However, the Davis weather station read 62 percent, so I soldiered on, cleared the dewar with CO2, and so on. But then the whole sky went grey on the all-sky camera, with a halo around Jupiter -- it was fog, so I closed as quickly as I could manage. Somewhat later the sky was partially clear but the roof was dripping, so that was that. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2023 Sep 13 [4:49:45]
