MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2024 Apr 12 Observer(s): E. Moran et al. Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: CCDS Worked for 8.75 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Totally clear all night, possibly photometric. But it was pretty windy all night and the seeing was not excellent. Overall, it was a great night. Everything worked well, and we were very efficient. Excellent data. The problem noted on the first night (4/10) concerning the TCS occurred again at the start of the evening. We moved in HA 1 hr east with tracking off to do twilight flats. The telescope almost got there, but never made it all the way -- we didn't hear the sound confirming the move was complete, and both RA and HA were changing slowly. The value for Track on the Control System window indicated (correctly) an HA rate of 0.0. We hit the Stop button, heard the bong, then HA stopped changing and RA started to change, and we could move the telescope. After flats, we turned on tracking, went to a star, and everything worked perfectly for the rest of the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2024 Apr 13 [4:51:35]
