MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2024 Jan 17

Worked for 13 hours (all night)
Conditions were Mixed most of the night.
No equipment or software problems were encountered.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds from start until 21:00.
   Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate
   Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable
   End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable

Observing Summary:

Copious high cloud before sunset, with some clear spots, but the
satellite animations showed them moving fast, and they cleared
out within a few hours.  The satellite pictures showed a cloud
evidently caused by our mountain range - a bright white spot
shaped like the Baboquivari mountains - but this dissipated. As
the upper-level moisture blew east, similar cloud formation 
formed over more easterly ranges.  After the clouds blew away it
was quite a beautiful night.
