MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2024 Jan 19

Worked for 5 hours (off and on through the night)
Conditions were Mixed most of the night.
No equipment or software problems were encountered.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds all night.
   Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm
   Mid: Seeing 0.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable
   End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm

Observing Summary:

High clouds, often heavy, passing through most of the night, but
uneven.  I worked on my list of bright targets.  There was 
enough of a hole early to get a bit, and resolve a problem with 
the guider with Eric's help, but then I stowed and napped for much
of the first half; around 11:30 PM it was better so I reopened
and worked on and off for most of the second half, though it 
never really cleared up.  All told a success given the conditions,
but certainly not a great night. Weirdly, the seeing was very 
good at times.

At the end I stowed the telescope and closed the dome for the 
first time this week, since we're favoring the dome mechanism 
until it's repaired.  The telescope stowed without any issues
and the dome closed normally.
