MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2024 Jun 11 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5- arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: A perfectly clear night, but with poor seeing for the first couple of hours. This improved. I had a somewhat glitchy start - the strange oscillating behavior occurred again in the late afternoon when I sent the telescope a bit east of zenith (in order to rotate the dome to shield the telescope from the setting sun). It never happened during the night, though. For some reason Maxim DL refused to pop a guide window on the first standard star, so I crashed the program figuring I could restart it, but then realized I was a bit out of my depth, so I called Eric who resolved the issue almost instantly by logging on and restarting the program. The dome didn't give any trouble, but I don't think I tracked any targets in the northeast where the problems occurred before. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2024 Jun 12 [5:13:53]
