MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2024 Jun 13 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 7 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The night began with heavy broken clouds; I opened and tried to get some data, but it wasn't happening, so I went to the zenith and closed the mirror until about 11 PM, when it finally cleared off as predicted. After that it was pretty smooth sailing, with no problems but some intervals of poor seeing. Kitt Peak remained closed again - I chatted with one of the operators at dinner and he said they have a new particulate monitor and are unsure what the limit should be, so they're being cautious. It seemed fine to me, with visibility of many miles (though the sunset was red). ------------------------------ Submitted on 2024 Jun 14 [5:02:36]
