MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2024 Sep 01 Observer(s): Fesen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Clouds cleared off around 7 pm. Seeing was around 1.7'' to start but got better and was at times down to 1.2''. Mostly clear skies. Encountered two problems. 1) telescope jumped to the north by several arcsec twice (but guiding was not lost creating double star images in direct images), and 2) telescope jumped to the east once, with guiding lost. Both problems occurred when trying to take 3 x 1800 sec exposures. Got them but took 6 tries to do it. Lost ~ 2 hours. On the positive side, telescopes sets very well. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2024 Sep 2 [6:54:09]
