MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2025 Mar 28 Observer(s): Laura Hunter, Sasha Campana Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 1 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Overcast, Winds High Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Tried to take spectra of low-surface brightness galaxies. Bad weather caused significant guiding and set-up issues. Trouble: Around 9:00 PM AZT issues with slewing happened. The telescope did not complete slew and we had to stop and re-try slew to got to target. About 30 minutes later a similar issue happened. We began slew to new target at same time as stopping guiding. The telescope slewed in Dec but not RA. Stopped slew and re-tried with the same result and the telescope stopped moving in RA. The telescope is locked at HA -02:20 Tried resetting the sidereal rate and nothing happened. Tried sending telescope to zenith and could only move in Declination. Tried using hand paddle to move telescope and it would only move North South, not East West. Tried restarting FCS and nothing resolved. Shut the mirror covers and shut down dome for the night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2025 Mar 28 [22:43:08]
