MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observing Report for 2026 Jan 09 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSMOS Worked for 8 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds High, too humid. Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds High End: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Above Limit Observing Summary: Mostly clear at sunset but with rising humidity and scraps of fog blowing close overhead. Opened the dome partway to let water drain out of the places it catches, then closed. The humidity dropped rapidly around 9:30 PM and never rose again; I was open by 9:30, and Kitt Peak opened an hour later. It stayed pretty breezy, though, with mediocre seeing, so I worked on brighter objects. The wind remained all night, with a few gusts above 40 in the last hour before I closed, about an hour before twilight, due to wind. Oddly, Kitt Peak never did close. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2026 Jan 10 [6:38:11]
